Nice flashlight, but has power flaws

Pros:Aluminum constructionExcellent beam pattern4 brightness setting, max of 1000 lumensOn brightness setting #3, the light ran for 50 minutes, then auto-dimmedDid not get hot during this long runLow red and white brightness setting for covert usageMemory for last brightness selectionReversable pocket clipDedicated, large power button that is nicely protected with fins on the tail capSeparate switches to control brightness, color, and strobe selectionIncludes a rechargeable 700mah battery and charging cableLow power indicatorCharging indicator lightAccepts CR123A lithium batteriesRed or white strobe functionHelmet mount with ARC accessory railHelmet mount rotates (spring loaded; pull out and rotate)IPX8 waterproof ratingCons:Properly installed in the helmet mount, you lose access to the battery and have to disassemble the entire thing with an Allen wrench for recharging/replacement of the battery. If you are careful, you can put the light in the helmet mount most of the way, and still be able to unscrew, and access the battery, but this interferes with the power button. The mount needs a quick detach lever to allow for hand-held use and rapid battery access. The Micro USB port to recharge the light is actually on the battery, resulting in wearing out the O-ring, so it really needs upgraded to an external USB-C charging port.Unscrewing the tail cap by the SLIGHTEST fraction disconnects the power. The adjustment buttons are too small to use with gloves. This is a good light, and it could be outstanding with some improvements.

Textural disco

Pros:Small and compactGood light output when on high settingEasy to rechargePower button is easy to find and use in the dark, right on the end of the light.Con:The light has two small function control buttons on the side. These are very hard to locate and even harder to understand what they do and how they work. The light has about 4 brightness settings, but you have to toggle through all the strobe and red light functions to figure out what you are getting. For tactical use, you would have a hard time trying to change any setting while at night, on your helmet. Are you going to get a burst of red light or white light when you turn on the power button? Who knows. I guess you could ask the enemy to wait while you toggle through the modes to find the one you want. The buttons need more textural hints so you can find them and know which button you are about to press. A slider switch would be even more intuitive. Left for white, right for red, something like that. For most folks out on a night fishing trip it won't be an issue. But if you are a pilot trying to retain your night vision and you need the red function, good luck not getting white strobe. And really, who needs a strobe? How many times are we ever going to be stranded and need a strobe to notify a rescue plane? They would probably just fly right on over and say "oh look, they are having a disco party down there on that island"
