Klarus G15 EDC Tactical Flashlight – 4200 Lumens, USB-C

If you’re looking for one of the best tactical weapon lights for under $130 USD, the Klarus GL4 has got to be on your list of consideration. This is a very well made, super bright, darkness slayer, that will guide you to your target during the night like its daytime.

What I like:
I. This light is extremely bright for its size or any size for that matter. It comes with a 5000mAh rechargeable lithium battery, aluminum construction, tactical features, great size that fits in my hand so nicely, remote mounted buttons, and rail mounting tactical clip.

II. This really is a top of the line flashlight, the build quality, materials used, features and functionality are all 5 star and I can’t imagine anyone saying otherwise.

Things to think about:
I. The biggest negative to me is the price. For me, you have to really perform if you’re going to be asking $129.99 USD for a gun light, and even then, it’s debatable. Now this flashlight definitely performs and I’m sure many people would argue that its worth that much all day long, but it’s debatable for me.

II. It helps that it comes with the remote tactical buttons that mount to the railing system and the integrated rail mount on the light itself. But, you can get a very comparable light on Amazon for half the price. It might not be as bright, but it will definitely be bright enough to serve it purpose effectively.

III. I don’t like that the rail mount on the flashlight itself isn’t completely removable, you will always have a piece sticking up where you hold the light with a non-tactical grip.

Overall, this is a really well built flashlight that definitely deserves your consideration. It’s extremely bright, comes with a huge rechargeable lithium battery, and is constructed super solid. If you’re ok with the price, they decide to lower it, or you can catch it on sale, this would be a fantastic light worth owning that will give you years of very happy, dependable great service as your go-to gun light.

You can trust that my reviews are always my honest opinion attempting to provide you with helpful insight that I wish I had, before I chose this product.

I am impressed with this weaponlight as it appears nearly as good as my higher end versions that cost several times as much, excepting for a few nitpicks.

I mounted this on the Pic rail of my rifle, and it has been very secure with easy access. For simplicity, I will list the pros and cons below:

- Compact at 5.5 inches long with a 1-1/8-inch diameter across the crenulated bezel.

- Weighs only 7.9 ounces with the Picatinny Mount and the battery installed.

- Is very bright with a decent spread and focused center beam.

- Easy to use tactile push buttons on the pressure pad which comes with a removeable Pic mount.

- The Tail Cap is relatively straightforward to use but has more than one button. The main push-button is the on/off switch. The three-dot angled button on the edge of the cap is the button that functions for changing the illumination settings (I would have preferred just to be able to cycle through the settings with the main button).

- I’m glad it has a strobe setting, as it is useful for disorienting an attacker.

- Uses a removeable rechargeable 5000mAh Li-Ion battery and can be charged within the light via a USB-C cable. There is an illuminated charging light: Red it’s charging, green indicates charging is complete.

- Uses the more durable and easier to use USB-C charging connection.

- Waterproof IPX8 rating and shock resistant. Seems to hold-up to recoil just fine.

- Will stay illuminated for up to approximately 4-hours on Turbo, 7-hours on high, 13.5-hours on medium, and 375-hours on low.

- Has a battery status indicator light that illuminates 5-seconds after the light is turned on: Less than 30% battery remaining and it’s red, 30% to 70% and its orange, over 70% power remaining and it’s green.

Cons (for which I am deducting one star):

- Protrudes off the rail a bit more than other weaponlights that I have.

- Is only made for Picitinny mounting. The way it was designed and for the current price, it should have an included M-LOK mount.

- This has a purported light output of 3300 lumens, and it is crazy bright in turbo mode, but when compared to other similar lights that I have that have somewhat lower lumens ratings, it really isn’t that much brighter. I’d say it’s more than likely closer 2000-2500 Lumens in turbo.

- Takes just over 4-hours to charge it up from empty.

- The cord for my pressure switch was kind of kinked in several places because of the way it was packaged in the box, and I couldn’t get it straight again.

- The pressure switch only works for on and off, and for pulse, and only in Turbo Mode; you can’t move through the different illumination settings with the pressure pad, which is a bummer as I have that option with some of my other weaponlights.

Despite the cons, it is a decent weaponlight that isn’t too large or cumbersome and which will apparently hold-up to abuse. To make sure I am adhering to Amazon’s Community Posting Guidelines so that this review does not get flagged, I do not have any pictures of it mounted on my rifle.

Bright and nice light for sure but was disappointed to find the strobe mode doesn't work with the remote thumb switch only with the normal button on the back of the light. So if you are planning on wanting strobe function with the remote hand switch then just get the streamlight brand

I'm surprised I haven't burned a hole through my wall with this yet. I have zero complaints about brightness. It's like the light of god shining down from on high, BUT...It gets hot, very hot. In short bursts like you'd be likely to use this in I think it's good to go. I would not recommend running it for extended periods like you would using it as a flashlight on the trail. I don't think it'll stand up to the heat as it doesn't really seem to dissipate anywhere except into the housing for the light.

There are lots of existing lengthy descriptive reviews already, so I’m going to only add a couple specifics

Mine is mounted on a 12 gauge Mossberg 590. Lots of things that work fine on a .223 rifle don’t survive shotgun use—for the limited shells I’ve fired, mostly rifled slugs, this light is unfazed. For home defense it should be durable enough, but that’s pretty soft duty.

More important to me is that given the long periods of disuse, are the ergonomics sufficiently intuitive and simple, that I’ll be able to readily implement them in times of stress. The fact that the pressure switch is basically only an one off switch is a big plus’s for me. I don’t want it to contain extra control options to divert my attention when it needs to be focused elsewhere.

Overall, my experience is consistent with the positive reviews. If it begins to diverge, I’ll add more to this review

I absolutely love this Klarus tactical light. The mounting system is one that I have never seen but it's great! It attaches and detaches from the pressure switch in an instant and it is rechargeable via a USB cable. This is my new favorite tactical light. I highly, highly recommend it!

The mounting slot can be sticky at times but you get used to it. The remote switch on the rifle works fine but you lose the ability to adjust the intensity of the light so take that as a grain of salt.
The remote switch mount provided works fine but I didn’t like the plastickiness of it so I bought a metal one and cut the ears (two rectangular loops) off to fit into the slot.

I have several outdoor tool lights, and this is my favorite out of all of them. It's brightness, size, weight, look, features, and functionality win the race in all categories. I Dig It 👍

The build quality of the Klarus GL4 is also top-notch. It feels solid and well-made in your hand, and the tactical switch is easy to operate even when wearing gloves. And if you need to use it in a tactical situation, you'll be pleased to know that it's designed to withstand heavy use and is built to last.

Overall, I'm incredibly impressed with the Klarus GL4. It's powerful, easy to use, and built to last. If you're looking for a high-quality tactical flashlight, this is definitely the one to get!

I'm really liking this light so far. I carried it at work all night. The button is in the right place for easy operation, and it just comes on without having to cycle through 50 million different programs. I'm really wishing that I would have seen this light a week ago because I just spent $120 on a Streamlight 4 days ago.
This KLARUS came with a nice velvet bag and an extra O ring. It's very bright, but doesn't wash out up close stuff the way my Streamlight does. It's use is going to be nighttime fuselage, wing, and rudder inspections while also working in the cockpit while aircraft power is turned off.
I'm going to make this an ongoing review and try to update every month. This is going to be my every day carry light until it doesn't work anymore. That's what happened to another brand that went for 5 months and then didn't.

EDIT: September 26th 2024. This is definitely my go to light. I have been reviewing another light too. When that one dies after a little use, I always go right back to this one. This KLARUS is a better quality light.

2nd EDIT: November 9th 2024. While the Streamlight, Maglite, and a few others are all in the bottom of my lunch box this KLARUS is always in my pocket. It's definitely my go to light. Very reliable and bright. I don't charge it nearly as much as the others. It's really funny when somebody is under a thrust reverser with their light and I turn on this KLARUS. It lights up the entire side of the engine and makes their light disappear.

3rd EDIT May 17 2025. I still love this light. I carry it 40 hours a week. It's on and off all night long. Sometimes it's on constantly. I charge it once every 2 weeks. I got this light for free. If it died right now, I would immediately buy another one.

This is such a cool flashlight, small and really bright! It charged via USB-C without a problem and the light feels hot if you put your hand in front of it. It comes with a charging cable and a battery cover as well as some instructions but the thing is easy to use out of the box.

The flashlight does get warm after extended use, and you can get a brighter setting by double clicking the power button to toggle on and off.

If you are into flashlights like I am you probably already own a Klarus or one of the other maybe one of the other actual high quality brands. This one is no different, you will almost never be without light with this bad boy. Whether it's an EDC or picattiny add on or just in your nightstand for emergency. This has so many options for powering it you barely need to think about it. Not only will it use the included massive LiR21700 battery, but it also comes with an adapter so you can power it by either two cr123 batteries or any other size of 18650.
Now that USB-C is mostly adopted, you get a nice USB-C to USB-C cable with a set of adapters, a carry bag, and a lanyard. This will be my new edc.

If you're looking for a quality flashlight, then the Klarus G15 is one to consider. It's a solid, compact, and bright flashlight with a lot of nice features. It also has a 5 year warranty. They stand by their products.

I have a lot of quality flashlights, and I can tell you that this one is well made. The body feels nice in my hand, and it has a good weight to it. I like that it comes with everything you need to get started, including different adapters to charge the battery. It also comes with both a 21700 battery and an 18650 to 21700 adapter, which is a nice bonus.

The modes on the Klarus G15 are also well designed. It has a moonlight mode for when you don't need a lot of light, and then it has low, medium, high, and turbo modes. I especially like the turbo mode, which is incredibly bright. The spill on this flashlight is also impressive. It lights up the sides as well as it does straight ahead. (Pictures of moonlight, low, medium, high, turbo)

One downside is that the side switches can be hard to find in the dark by just feeling. However, that's a minor complaint. Overall, the Klarus G15 is a great flashlight that I would recommend to anyone in need of a reliable and powerful light source. I am very happy to be adding it to my collection.

Unforutnately the protected 21700 battery is close to 74mm in length so it won't fit my intelligent charger and therefore I cannot include my traditional battery evaluation in this review. I did get pretty close to the rated runtime on the high setting so I'm inclined to believe the claimed 5000mAh is true. The light works fine with unprotected 21700 cells (at 70mm nominal) and includes a clever sleeve so you can use 18650 or dual CR123 cells in a pinch. Charging DOES work from USB-C Power Delivery chargers and I saw 7-8 Watts of peak charging power. UI is a little cumbersome with the triple-click strobe and flashing modes (see uploaded manual image) but for normal light modes everything is intuitive otherwise.

Lighting levels are consistent with other lights I have making similar lumen claims, so again I don't have an objective way to measure but the claims are credible in my book. The reflector provides cleanly focused light without the sloppy effects of "zoom lens" lights, so very high quality output.

Construction quality is very good, I was actually very impressed with this light and this is one I would be happy to purchase should I need another one, so a solid 5 star rating from me!

Klarus G15 is one of the flashlights I would recommend if you need just a couple flashlight at home. It is solid, well built, and easy to use.
Klarus is one of the big brands in the hobbyist world. G15 is their most current model. It is power by a 21700 li-ion battery. The size of the battery is bigger than the popular 18650 battery. But G15 is actually small and has a length that is similar to some of my 18650 flashlights. This makes this light somewhat compact enough for everyday carry. The 21700 battery also has a higher capacity than 18650 so the flashlight will run longer.
The flashlight is equipped with Cree XHP70.2 led emitter, which is responsible for the light to be able to produce 4200 lumens at maximum output. Combined with an orange peel reflector, it is able to produce a very wide flood light pattern. Unfortunately, the light doesn’t have a long throw. The flashlight does get hot fast when running at high output. This is common with all the high output flashlight. The G15 is designed with auto temperature regulation where the flashlight will step down the light output after couple minutes to protect the flashlight and the user from burning.
The user interface is very simple. Without reading the instruction manual, I believe a none hobbyist user will be a figure out how to use the light really fast without issues.
The light with the similar output usually cost more. At $60, this flashlight is highly recommended.

This is by far and away the BEST flashlight I have ever owned in my life. It's small but quite mighty! This thing is brighter than a supernova, but there are a few different modes if you don't need to cook eggs with your flashlight. It's fully rechargeable and comes with a little clip on the side to attach to a belt or waistband. I was honestly surprised how nice this is - it is definitely worth the money.

I have several flashlights. This one is now my favorite. The output at its brightest setting is almost scary bright. DO NOT shine this directly in the eye or you will be sorry! I ended up turning it down to its lowest setting (there are three) for general use. When I need the brighter settings it's easy enough to change by holding the power button down. Other than the impressive output, the design is super solid. It has a good weight to it and the alloy casing feels awesome in hand. The charge port is USB-C and has a very substantial silicone plug that covers it to keep it protected from water. And, I'm happy to say this flashlight can be charged with a standard USB-C Power Delivery capable charger! This is notable, because there are so many garbage Chinese devices that advertise they have a USB-C port but they DO NOT charge with a standard PD charger. I call these devices "fake USB-C" devices because their cable is cheap and usually is a USB-A to USB-C cable. Thankfully, this flashlight has the chops to negotiate a PD charging protocol. Nice job Klarus! All in all, this flashlight isn't cheap but it is worth the money and if I were to lose it, I would buy another one in a heartbeat. Highly recommended!

First, I noticed the flashlight was relatively heavy for its size, which is a little longer than the palm of my hand. It is surprisingly bright as well. It makes any AA or AAA-powered flashlight pale in comparison. And that is at its low-light level. The high light intensity is super bright, so bright you absolutely do not want to shine it anywhere in your (or anybody else's) eyes. It also has a rapidly blinking function, which I quickly turn off, because it is really kind of jarring!

In the title, I mentioned it is rugged. I have used it during my construction work and unfortunately, while working on ceiling joists, dropped it down to the floor below. Uh-oh! I was not sure that it would turn on after that fall, but it did. I had already grown attached to this little flashlight so I was quite relieved it turned on.

I've used it outside at night as well and it works great - again, very bright and illuminates a wide swath to help you see what is out there and for walking or hiking down paths and trails. It is really a very good all-around flashlight.

I've had the flashlight a couple of months, and have used it often. It is now my go-to flashlight. As I recall, a single charge lasts somewhere around three hours. It comes with a charging cable, so no worries there.

To provide a short summary: this is a great flashlight, very bright, very rugged, well-built, surprisingly small for how bright it is. I highly recommend buying this flashlight.

Retired on gov't pension after 25+years from one of the largest, most violent, major police departments in the entire Midwestern United States. I have gone through a TON of top-shelf flashlights and THIS THING is the ONE! DO NOTTTT fall for some cheaper name brand light advertising they have uber-high lumens! THEY DON'T! I KNOW! THE HARD WAY! Stick with Klarus; THIS model (G15) in particular has the most bang for your buck. (ie: tiny size with an INSANE amount of output and long battery life between charges.) Being LED, there IS no filament to "burn out." Therefore, it is very much a "lifetime" product and the rechargeable li-ion batteries are cheap to replace. Mine is 5 years old and its battery still holds a charge like the day I bought it. Now that the prices have come down, I bought one for every glove box! If you carry this thing "on-the-job," be CERTAIN to engage the "lock-out" feature!!! If it accidentally lights up whilst inside its holster or in your pocket..... FIRE!!!
