How to choose an EDC flashlight

How many lumens do I need for everyday carry?
Between 200 and 500 lumens is the practical sweet spot. It lights a room, a footpath or an engine bay without blinding you off reflective surfaces, and it lets the light run for hours instead of minutes.
Are keychain flashlights bright enough to be useful?
Yes. Modern keychain lights in this collection run from 40 to 320 lumens, which is far brighter than a phone torch and enough for locks, footing, and short-range work.
Can I carry a flashlight with a laser or UV legally?
Low-power green lasers and UV emitters on consumer flashlights are legal to own and carry across the United States, but pointing a laser at aircraft, vehicles or people is a serious offence. Check your state and local rules before carrying.
Do these lights use standard batteries?
Most use a built-in or removable lithium-ion cell such as a 14500, 16340 or 18650. Removable-cell models let you swap in a spare, which is why we stock the matching cells separately.
