TrustFire MINI X7 5-in-1 Flat EDC Flashlight with Laser & UV

I am impressed with this flashlight. I was doubtful at first due to seeing similar products that were either difficult to use or inaccurate in their measuring function.

The primary use for this flashlight is for range use at night and field use to measure evidence distances from fixed points like a wall. I have another laser measuring device but it’s only function is to measure distances. I used the light recently during a search warrant service and located vital evidence underneath a sofa with the flashlight feature then easily measured it’s distance from an east and south wall.

What I appreciate about the design is that the switch, in its designated position, only works with one function. I’ve had different flashlights with multiple functions that I have to toggle so many times to eventually get to the function I need.

This isn’t my EDC light since it is bulky compared to the very flat EDC I carry. I keep it in my kit bag.

The light has a long charge, and the display is easy to read. There is a slight learning curve in adjusting the unit of measurement but once you get the hang of it, it is very easy to change.

Overall this seems like a good little everyday carry flashlight, and the range finder feature makes it a pretty good substitute for a tape measure for basic usage.

However I do take issue with the design of the power switch. For a flashlight that runs at high power, the unprotected side power switch is far too easy to turn on accidentally. This was particularly well highlighted in the one I received, as it seem to have been dropped while still in the package a few hours prior to being delivered. When I first opened my flashlight, the battery was fully dead, and the light itself was stilll almost too hot to hold on to. It also had melted the foam packaging, as well as cracked and deformed the lens on the front of the flashlight from the heat generated while still in the box. For something which can generate this kind of power, the switch _really_ needs to be protected in some manner to prevent the accidental operation of the flashlight, otherwise it could be a safety hazard.

Due to this, I'd consider this to be only 4 star flashlight. It works, and it works well, but I have a handful of other flashlights which are similarly priced, sized and operate at similar power levels, and I've never seen any of them turn on by accident and get hot enough to cause themselves damage like this one.

I had trouble changing display to feet from meters, I didn't find instructions helpful, so I tried contacting
them through their website support link with no response, then sending the email provided on their web site, no response after more than a week, I did figure out how to change to feet through trial and error, not from instructions provided, , I'll com e back to add to this if the company eventually gets in touch, besides poor support it's a good tool.
 
Quality tool, mostly aluminum, adjustable flashlight up to 750 lumen/accurate distance finder, tripling up as laser pointer, I've used all three the same day I took it out on the job

In box with tool, microfiber pouch, cleaning cloth and charge cord, (no charger, I have too many already, don't want another to throw out or toss in draw.)

Excellent combination tool to consolidate tools I carry inspecting construction sites, it's flat sitting nicer in pocket than my round flashlight, two way clip and I can fasten in pocket/belt, lense up or down, bonus, laser measurer works while flashlight is on.

This is flat, sitting more comfortable in pocket than round flashlight, thinner in every dimension than my dedicated laser distance meter.

I don't yet know how long I can use per charge but it's a pretty big 3000 milliamp battery, I would never have it on often or long enough for that to be any issue, however I saw online it's also a power brick (to charge phone I suppose) but I didn't try that, I almost never run out of battery on phones, certainly not while on job site.

Finally (for my review), a surprisingly powerful magnet on it's butt, I haven't seen a need to attach this to metal yet.

This flashlight multitool really is awesome. The light is super bright and clear. I like the magnet, it’s strong and balances the light’s weight. The measurement feature is pretty accurate. I don’t think it’s accurate to the centimeter but it works for our needs. I think overall it’s a good product.

I was looking for a “flat” flashlight, to carry at work, possibly in a suit pocket. Once I received it, it turned out to be bigger than it looked. It doesn’t come with a holster of any kind, and I wasn’t able to find a different brand holster that fits, so the clip or the pocket carry are the only options. Its too big for a pocket, I already have to much stuff, so ive been using the stainless clip on my belt. The clip is actually really good, very solid, springy stainless steel, and its double sided-so the light can be carried tip up or down. It does tilt while sitting in a car, but i had no issues with it falling off the belt. The clip seems to be strong and designed well.
The light has a switch on the side, controlling 3 modes: OFF, Flashlight and Laser/range finder. The switch feels a little flimsy, but it is metal, very tactile, and i didn’t have any issues with it activating on its own.
In Flashlight mode, there are 3 brightness levels, and the little screen shows the lumens produced. It is plenty bright, more than i expected. In the last, 3rd mode- it has a red laser ( it wasn’t great on a sunny day) and it shows the distance. I haven’t really gotten too deep in this mode, its is sorta confusing to change the measurements (it comes preset in meters), and i feel like they tried too hard to squeeze too much into this light. I haven’t noticed confirmed that the range finder is accurate, although there is a way to calibrate it.
The screen is small, and the numbers and letters on it are tiny. But it shows all the info i need, including the battery remaining power. The battery is not replaceable by the end user (there are tiny torx screws holding the end plate, i never unscrewed them to see if i can replace the battery). The entire body is all metal construction, seems pretty durable, a shape that fits hand well, with ridges on the side for grip.
As a flashlight-this works great. I wish it came with a holster, everything else is based ion my opinion, and so far, i like it and carry it every day

This light is really bright and perfect for those moments when the power goes out.

It's so compact and extra powerful, not exaggerating it can get soooo bright! Let me add the charge lasts an extremely long time and only needs a usb-c to charge it. It might take two hours to fully charge it, if that.

Bottom Line:
Would recommend, depending upon the cost.

- you really really need to read the instructions. There are many features and reading through the instructions will prevent some frustrations. I tried figuring it out before reading the instructions, and wasn’t very pleased. Haha. Just trust me and read the instructions.
- This thing is awesome! Incredibly bright flashlight. The laser distance measurement tool works well, with two variations; one includes the length of the tool, and the other does not.
- durable: my cat has knocked this off the nightstand multiple times and it hasn’t broken yet, shockingly so.

‘Value’ is subjective, and prices can change, so I’ll have to let you be the judge for this.

Interesting flashlight - the flashlight modes are simple enough to use, and using the laser measure takes a little getting used to.

The light is very bright, and the case seems very durable. The light is heavy, which I hope is the combination of a big battery and good build quality. Strong magnet on the back. Physical selection switch for laser/flashlight function.

The measurements on the laser tape seem fairly accurate. The pocket clip comes pre-installed. As this is a big, heavy light, it’s not exactly an every day carry kind of item. Probably sits better in a work bag/toolkit than a pocket.

This is the only tool I found which can measure distance,has a good flashlight and can laser point.

I put it all in the title of my review. I am a forensic engineer and need to make quick and accurate measurements. This little device is incredible. I tested accuracy against a tape measure at 5 feet and 40 feet and I was amazed. See my photos. I have had other laser measuring devices, but the strength of the laser let me make measurements on a well lit white wall from 30 feet no problem. Of course the flashlight is great with 4 levels. It is incredibly rugged and the ribs make it easy to hold. The instructions were easy to understand. I like that you can get accurate measurement from either the base of the device or the front edge of the device. Switches from meters to feet to inches and a slash setting will give you inches and fractions of inches. Has a strong magnetic base to hold it on any ferrous metal surface. Comes with a nice little bag with drawstring, a short charging cable (USB-C). This unit is not cheap, but if you need a useful, rugged, dependable tool that you will have for years, then get this.
